Has someone installed an electronic wind monitor on a 250? If so, how did you proceed to run the wiring? I am considering installing the display above the compass on the port side. Thank you.
I am waiting for this one to come out. Their previous model got good reviews, but this new one looks to be even batter.
It comes with no display. It just ouputs NMEA sentences by Bluetooth 4.0 protocol. I have a Windows 8 tablet mounted at my helm which takes in GPS and AIS by Bluetooth and displays it in OpenCPN software. The wind data will consolidate it all on the one display. (The company also has iPad apps for displaying the data, of you prefer that.)
You may be looking for a more traditional wired instrument with dedicated display, but I don't like cutting holes in the fiberglass and with my tablet the wireless instrument fits my way of doing things. And for $350, the price looks pretty attractive.
It looks great. I wonder how it works with the iPAD and its less than useful display in full sun. Thanks for the suggestion. I will inquire further.
My tablet is the Lenovo Miix2 8" model. Brightest screen I've seen on any tablet. I put a matte finish screen protector on it to knock out the glare, and it works fine in full sunlight (though usually under a bimini).
