We went to the C-22 Gone With The Wind Regatta at Lake Lanier, GA this past weekend. I raced with my friend, Don, and we came in 2nd in Silver Fleet.
There were a total of 25 boats, 16 in Gold Fleet and 9 in Silver. Great weekend, winds avg'd 8 with gusts to 17 on Sat. Slightly overcast to sunny skies and temps in the upper 70's by race time.
The GWTW is one of five races in what we call the GRITS series (Great Racing In The South). The next one will be at our lake Oct. 11-12, followed by the last one for the year at Lake Martin in AL.

Edit: Title of thread changed. DP

This weekend is our annual Oktoberfest Regatta and Music City Catalina Cup. Both combined into one this year. As mentioned above, it is race 4 of 5 in the GRITS series for C-22's. I'm the Regatta Chairman for the event this year. Pray for me, please. We've got 19 boats preregistered, ten C-22's that will sail a buoy course and 9 others that will sail a distance course. At least 2 more are expected to register Saturday. I'm praying that the rain gods will be nice to us!
If everyone shows up, it will be a good turnout. One of our members is a professional caterer, and the food he and his crew prepares is always good. To help things along, I'm baking fudge brownies!

Whew! We made it through the weekend. 11 C-22's (6 from 0ut-of-town), 2 Capri 26's, 3 Northstar 500's, 2 Bene 235's, 2 J-22's and a J-80. My C-22 skipper couldn't sail today, so I managed to get a ride on the J-80.
Saturday was very rainy at first, but the rain cleared up as the day progressed. We had light wind today, but fortunately the rain held off. that's coming back in tomorrow. By most accounts, a successful weekend.

Our Equalizer regatta is in 2 weeks, a one-design event. If you know of anyone who races a J-22, S2-7.9, or Northstar 500 who travels, we would love to have them sail here. We have a lot of S2 guys who come here from up north because we also have good ice hockey here and you can get tickets at the door!
