We sailed this boat on Lake Tahoe for three summers (2008-2010), then had the boat professionally wrapped and stored it on the trailer for 5 years after our daughter was born. In 2015 we launched the boat on Whiskeytown Lake (near Redding, California), and she’s there now (Oak Bottom Marina, slip #73).
We love the boat, but geography and parenthood is not very compatible with sailing, so we are selling her.
We have receipts that add up to nearly $50,000 including upgrades and additions. Here’s a partial list of what’s for sale here:
2008 Catalina 250wk w/Pedestal Steering, Raymarine ST-60, 135% Genoa (and much more*) Honda 9.9hp outboard engine (2008) with electric start & power tilt Road King trailer (2008), dual-axle, w/C250 mast raising system
Solstice Sportster, 3-person, inflatable dinghy (new in 2015) CDI FF4 Flexible Furler (2010, BIG upgrade from the stock FF2) Magma Marine Kettle 2 grill w/ rail mount Sealand Dometic 975 MSD portable toilet handheld VHF radio, WM VHF150 Lifesling 2 Crew Overboard rescue system “Extras”: lifejackets, toolkit including Loos tension gauge, mooring lines, mooring hook, fenders, anchor, SnapIt drink holders, etc.
*cabin window shades, carpeting, cockpit cushions, canvas package, pop top canvas, stove (and likely a few more things I’ve forgotten)
We are pretty compulsive about keeping our boats clean and “nice”; we have never worn our shoes in the cabin, for example. We also sweep out the cockpit and rinse the deck every time we go out for a few days. The mainsail is still crispy/crinkly; we normally stored it folded, in the original Catalina bag each winter. This boat is in good – but not flawlessly perfect – condition.
I will get some good pictures – mostly to illustrate the condition – during the next few weeks, but most sailors know what all this stuff is anyway.
The "local" Catalina dealer (Reno/Tahoe - about 200 miles away) has indicated that the boat would reasonably sell for $30k. I've listed on Craigslist for $32,500, but understand that it may actually sell for much less.
