In the chill of the offseason, I have gotten pleasantly distracted by a series of fascinating YouTube videos from an incredibly skilled and experienced craftsman. He builds and restores wooden boats. Extending a millenniums-old tradition, Louis Sauzzade, has demonstrated building a skiff from scratch, repairing hull sections, steaming red oak frames, laminating components and doing traditional handiwork.
He hosts dozens of weekly YouTube episodes (15-25 minutes each) during the construction or repair project. He has a Tumblr site with photos and videos here: http://www.tipsfromashipwright.com/
He shows his amazing custom-modified tools, saws, planes, jointers and bandsaw. He loves hand tools but also uses power tools effectively. His knack for fine work and planning your moves is incredible.
If you have any interest in woodworking, beautiful artistic shapes and tradition and some spare time, I'd urge you to spend a few hours watching. I guarantee you'll be hooked after a short while.
Here's a good starter. YT

I concur. I stumbled into these videos in Wooden Boat - they are surprisingly informative, detailed, and interesting.

Here's another site with a huge library of amazing videos on classic boats, sailing, etc., to get you through the winter (and beyond): offcenterharbor.com. It's a membership site, but they'll let you see 10 videos before you decide... I'm finding it well worth the price--$34 for the year.
