I am having difficulty determining if my centerboard has fully dropped into place. It is a 1995 model which I recently purchased and the former owner has indicated that it sometimes "sticks".

Does anyone have suggestions that might be of help? Thanks in advance for any and all suggestions.

To get it all the way down (one time), you could lower a rope at around the transom, hold it on both sides of the boat as you walk it forward until it catches the board--then pull forward until the board seems to stop. Then mark the lifting line with something like tape as a reference. If that points to a problem, some C-250 WB sailors here can suggest fixes.

Now, as a related topic, over the years, many C-250 WB owners have found their boats had much lighter weather helm when they sailed with the centerboard pulled up somewhat so it's angled back--I can't say how much... But if you look at an overlay drawing of the WB and WK versions (in brochures, etc.), you can see the effective center ("center of lateral resistance") of the WB centerboard fully lowered is well forward of the CLR of the wing.
