If you have been following my antics, you might remember that I taught at a local sailing school on their catalina 25. We'll I did not like the way they kept their boats up (you need a tetnus shot just to look at them) , so started a small sailing school in May: mainsail sailing school. Things have started picking up, and I've had a few more students lately . One side effect is that I sail a lot more, and in varying weather! People's schedules are such that they dont want to cancel for rain!
Excellent! Next time I drive through, I'll take a free Demo! How 'bout an MOB lesson--you jump in and I'll.......

EVERYONE wants to jump in for the MOB drill! I use a homemade crap pot buoy with a pole for mob. Thinking about getting an MOB dummy, and doing a class only on realistic MOB recovery, night and day.

Yup--yours is too visible, too light, and too easy to grab, although I'm assuming you meant a crab pot. (The other might be a little more of a challenge!)

The ASA101 class focuses more on the manuever than the recovery. The buoy is a styrofoam pot marker with a weighted driveway pole stuck through it with a flag on top. We found it was practically invisible at 100 yds in any chop. We were out in the storms the weekend before the hurricane doing a 103 class. Student loved the heavy weather. Here he is learning how to keep his course in waves. .
