I am installing a HawkEye depth sounder I’m my Cat. 25 swing keel. I want to shoot through the hull and use wax to secure it. What’s the best location for the transponder??
I put mine just aft of the thru hull fitting in the v-berth. I has worked well there for many years. I do have to tune up the gain on the depth finder though. Bill Holcomb - C25 Snickerdoodle #4839
I had an Eagle Cuda 300 fishfinder (couldn't get a Hawkeye to work) and placed the transducer in wax just aft of the swing keel trunk under the companionway. not enough cable or desire to run it to the V-berth. It worked fine for us. I had the display set up on a removable mount on the inside left, sorry, port side of the companionway, and it worked quite well for us. That transducer shot a pretty wide V path under the boat, so we always had plenty of time in skinny water. also fun to see the fish traffic below us.
