The Wayzata Yacht Club in Wayzata, MN has been awarded the 2014 Catalina/Capri 25 Nationals. This regatta will be held 9/12-9/14 on beautiful Lake Minnetonka in Minnesota. As some of you remember, we hosted this regatta in 2011. That year, we had 24 Capri 25's, and 5 Catalina 25's/250's competing in two classes. We hope to get even more boats this next year.
We have a professional race committee, full clubhouse, plenty of slip space, boat ramp, crane, and everything else you need to host a large regatta. Whether you're a long-time racer, or a cruiser who would like to give it a try, we encourage you to head for Minnesota next September. In addition to outstanding racing, we'll have live music, open bars, dancing, and fun socializing.
In order to boost attendance even higher, all regatta registration fees will be waived 100% for boats traveling from out of town. So, this regatta is FREE for you! We also have staff who will ensure that you and your crew have a place to stay.
The Notice of Race will be coming out shortly, as soon as we finalize some of the details.
Congratulations! It'd be fun to go, not quite sure I can talk the comptroller into the roughly $1200-$1400 just in diesel to get there & back with the boat.

I don't know that we have ever seen a host offer better incentives to attract racers to come and compete..
I hope that this becomes one of the Assoc. best regattas..

It sounds like a great way to setup a nationals for sure.
I'm going to try to get crew from my local club... My first preference going to my existing crew, then I'll ask some key members if they'd be interesting in joining... I am quite sure we'll wind up dead last, but I could learn a lot from those folks.
I realize my SR/WK , W/IBD is real slow but sounds like fun. Do the available slips have power & water? What are the slip fees? Are there showers available? I guess more information will become available as time gets closer.
We will make sure that out-of-town boats have a slip, or at least a length of protected dock to tie up. We've hosted many regattas, and always manage to accommodate the boats.
Our docks are mostly for racers, so not a full set of power and water, but we do have 110v outlets on the docks if you need one.
There are showers in the club. No charge.
Looking forward to seeing you at the Nationals this year!

At the last officers meeting we were trying to figure out how far members would be willing to travel to compete and enjoy the camaraderie of a National regatta and I was surprised to see you are from Dallas/Fort Worth area. So..
This could be one of the largest regattas in a few years...
Members how far would you go to sail, race, party with Association members? Please weigh in and let us know if you want/can/will come to the regatta. </font id="navy"></font id="size2"></font id="Comic Sans MS">

My wife and I usually take a long extended trip every summer. This year she has developed a medical issue that stopped us from venturing away from home. It came as a shock and we had to cancel the reservations I had made. Hopefully, we can begin our travels again next year. I suspect those that can attend will really enjoy the event.
