When I was looking for a catalina to buy, I came across many with an exterior round grill attached to the aft pulpit in the cockpit.. Any ideas? Pics would be great Thanks
Recall that Magma Grills make you GO faster, as I indicated to our race committee (who took this picture) for our 2nd race of the series in 2013.
Magma grills can be purchased with any number of mounting options, but most common in use on a sailboat is the rail mount.
I gave this grill to my crew member (who has a stellar Oday 26 - just beautiful new like down below, for a 30yo boat)... when I sold my Capri 25. Now I'm on the hunt for the newer model of the same grill, and perhaps a fishing rod holder mount for it.
Thats a fact John, The heat from the grill rises thus drawing air in along the perimeter. That air is wind across your sails. I hatted the Magma grill so much I just gave it to a guy on the dock. The slightest breeze and it would blow out.

It's more fun if you cook and eat at the same time (fat man with chipmunk cheeks I am)... I don't believe I ever tried to grill with the sails up (that'd be entertaining)... but honestly I once anchored in 25 knots breeze, made some brats, and never once thought it'd blow out, had a helluva time getting the lighter to light, but after that, no worries.
This was us oin July 4, 2013 before the fireworks show, wife made kabobs up, and I grilled them, and we shared them at our raft up (7 boats)... absolutely great food.
Maybe they improved them but anyway I kept the mount and bolted a $12 cheap tabletop grill you can find anywhere to it and it works great. Have it now for 7yrs. This is it mounted to the back of my previous boat

I picked up a Force 10 grill at a local flea market for $20. It was hardly used and works well. I don't think they are sold anymore but I piked up a cover on eBay for $15. Going to tie it into a common tank this year if I can find a marine, composite or aluminum tank this year.
