I was finally able to afford to buy my first ever brand new headsail... (110) so it is pretty much the first time in my life I can sail with a flat headsail.... Heck I may even rig the main traveler ....

Gee... the cloth sure seems crisp

Cant wait for fall....

Good for you! Any particular reason why a 110?

Congratulations, Ray!

I try to keep my jib in good shape by flaking and rolling it up to store it in the sail bag. The previous owner bought a new 110 hank-on Ullman jib and new main only 6 months before I bought the boat. I learned about flaking a jib and a mainsail on the Association Forum from comments made by some of our distinguished old salts!

I keep the jib hanked on while I roll it up. Crouching at the bow I place the roll in my lap, tie the bundle with the red Ullman sail tie, and then remove the hanks. The rolled up sail stays in this orientation in the sail bag, and later I can hank it on quickly since all the bronze hanks are lined up.

Enjoy your new sail!

<< Any particular reason why a 110? >>

I sail most often when a front is coming through. Sailing on a relatively small lake ( rather than open water ) lots of Traffic on the lake so I run the 110 with a pendant at the foot of the forestay. I can see under the sail. a little heaver cloth, Im sorry I don't remember the weight.

My local sail loft ( Mark Adams with The Sail Loft Inc. ) recommended a light 135 next.

Flake

Roll

Pack... I love deck bags from eBay.

Using a deck bag is no faster putting a sail away but a LOT faster getting on the water.
