Hello all,

Are there any C250 WB owners who have there boats on San Francisco Bay. We primarily sail on an inland lake in Central Oregon, but will be moving our boat to Alameda for the Fall/Winter. I have heard a mixed bag about the suitability of the WB for type of conditions found there. Any info is appreciated...

Erick,
I've sailed a C250WB on SF Bay for years.
There are several C25 members who also sail in the area.
Alameda is a popular spot. When the winds are light, sail North.
When they are heavy, sail South.
You will need to get use to tides and tankers, not exactly lake sailing.

Thank you for your reply. We will be bringing her down on October 12th. We have a slip at Marina Village Yacht Harbor. Really looking forward to sailing the Bay. I have been studying up on charts and loading my GPS. Last time I sailed there was in 1989 for the Snipe National Championships.

Arlyn Stewart, a C-250 guru here, who cruised the Great Lakes (virtually oceans as far as these boats are concerned) in his WB, contended that the WB is more stable in terms of fore-to-aft pitching in big chop than the WK due to the longer fore-to-aft distribution of its ballast. That suggests the WB might be different in an environment like SF Bay, but not necessarily less comfortable or capable.
