I mostly sail my ’87 Catalina 25 WK standard mast on Lake Pleasant near Phoenix, with an occasional trailer-sail to San Diego harbor, or to Bahia San Carlos in Mexico..
I’ve traveled some in my 53 years, but somehow I’ve never made it to any of the Great Lakes. It seems funny to think that I’ve never even seen one, except in pictures. (But the pictures look so cool).
I’ve always thought it would be the ultimate road trip to drag Odyssey clear across the country and then spend a month or so on the lakes.
I’m finally going to get to visit Chicago as a tourist September 23–27 this year, but Odyssey won’t be coming along. Nevertheless, it would be incredible if I not only got to see Lake Michigan, but could even spend a little time on the water in a C25.
Are there any C25 sailors near Chicago that could use some extra crew on an afternoon sail, Sep 23–27?
