Looking for some help. Have 1999 suzuki dt225 outboard. Runs great at low speed, when opened up, seems like it's starving for fuel. Tried alternate fuel tank, didn't really help. Sometimes if you keep squeezing bulb it is OK. other times the ball seems to collapse on itself, like to much suction from motor side. but it still won't get enough fuel to run more than 2500 rpms. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated. thank you
Air filter? Vent on tank is too tight? Clogged jets?
Try this. with motor warm from idling, squeeze more fuel in from bulb, then disconnect the gas line at the motor and try revving. If it works then the prob is in the fuel line or tank, if not then it's on the motor itself.
Didn't say how old the fuel line/bulb is but a bad valve in the bulb could cause this as well. Adding to what John P has said, make sure that the tank is venting properly. If in doubt, remove the tank cap altogether (just for the test) to make sure.
Might seem obvious, but make sure you don't have the line attached to the tank backwards. The bulb will collapse if you have it on backward. Most likely though you have a clogged high speed jet.
