Reading the forum discussion on trailerability of the C 25 brings up a question for which I need a good answer.

I am getting ready to register my boat in another state and was told I need to provide the weight of the trailer...the county would prefer some type of "hard" documentation of that weight.

The trailer is the Trail rite model with the tandom wheels.

Can someone provide me the empty trailer weight and direct me to an internet location where I can download the trailer specs with weight.

Thanks

Marshall P

Probably the best thing would be an official weight ticket from a truck stop. Look for the "Cat" scales sign. I think it's around $5 - $10.

Marshall, I had to do the same thing when I registered my trailer, a Trail Rite like yours. I took it to a "Cat" scales that was off an interstate ramp really close to where I sail. It was easy, but the way the scales I used work, was that there were four or five separate scale "pads" lined up to accommodate the footprint of an 18 wheeler. My truck and trailer only took 1 pad each. At first I just positioned the trailer on the last pad, but there wasn't enough weight to register. I had to position my truck on the last pad, and the trailer on the pad behind the truck. This worked. When the print out was ready, it showed the weight on each pad. My truck was somewhere between 5,000 & 6,000, and the trailer was 1,640. The lady at the scales desk circled the trailer weight and that was sufficient for the red tape people at the BMV.

Marshall - I had to get the weight of my trailer this year. I just asked the County personnel where the closest commercial scale was - turned out it was at a lumber yard about 20 miles away in a small town! Cost me a whole $1.00 to get an official weight.

Your local landfill has a certified scale too. Dave
