I filled out my form for hull #364 in the owners page but don't see Chick-a-pea listed. It may be because I don't won't my email address plastered on the internet for the harvesters to get hold of. Would that be the reason and is there some way to avoid this and still list my vessel in the register?
The form you filled out sends an email to the Webmaster, rather than generating an automatic update. The Webmaster then has to manually update the list. Spike generally did this in batches as time allowed. Regarding your email address, you do not have to include it in the listing.
Ben, I'm not trying to influence your decision but you might note that a while back Spike cleverly replaced the @ symbol with "at" in the directories, so web bots wouldn't pick up our addresses. As far as I can tell, it's worked.
It did take a week or more, and I have never received any spam at my email address. I was wondering why the omittance of the @ in the addresses, now I know why and I'm thankful. This website is the best.
