I am dropping the mast this weekend to replace the standing rigging, and want to replace the spreader boots that are currently on the boat. I do not know what size is on there and which to buy. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks, Dan 86 fk/tr

OK, let me give you some choices. There are 2 inch and 3 inch variaties at the WM. The 3 inch look huge, but i am not sure if the 2 inch are big enough. I wanted to get them before I dropped the mast to prevent running back and forth to the WM. Any help would be awesome. thanks Dan

I'd like to suggest getting roller for the spreaders too. I had just the boots and still put some holes in my Ginny. I have since added a roller from WM. So far it seems to be working. The directions say to add them below the spreaders. I'm thinking of getting a nother pair to install above the spreaders too.

Your spreaders are 1"-1.25" I use rubber boots and tape on the sail at point of contact. I also put tape where my lower batten touches the aft shroud.

Frank, thanks a bunch, last time I got them too small, only had the boat 2 months at that time and had the mast down and just tied them on the wrong way. Could not remember what size I had the first time and wanted to do it right. I will try the 2" and if it works will let the forum know, if anyone else needs to know. Danny

I've used Edson Leather spreader boots - they are a nice touch and weather a bit better than the rubber. I think I used the 2" but am not sure.

2 inch boots worked well. Rerigged the mast with uppers, fore and back stays this weekend. Used 4 bodies to assist and went easily up and down. As it always happens, the masthead wind indicator met its demise and had to be replace during the ordeal. Also reran the jib halyard that pulled out last time I restepped the mast. The tall rig is a challenge to get up and down. Hope I don't have to do it again for a while!
