Friday afternoon I attempted to replace my 20 year old, 150 genoa. I had no problem removing the old sail but while trying to raise the new sail, it jammed half way up. After several attempts to raise or lower I realized that the line was jammed at the roller on the top of the furling. Saturday I obtained a bosuns chair and went for quite a ride in 12-15 kts wind. This appeared to be a nylon type roller that was damaged. Using a screwdriver (while I held in place it acted as the roller), we were able to raise the sail. My question...I believe the original owners ordered the furling from Catalina, would anyone know the size of the roller I need to replace?
Secondly, this was my first time up the mast. I found a Harken bosuns chair and now feel very comfortable doing the maintenance/repair of other things that I have been ignoring.
Lastly, I don't remember being so sore and with so many aches and pains than I have today...it's all good
You have described what sounds like a CDI, call them and ask. I don't think they sell just the sheave, I am going to upgrade to the FF6 halyard and halyard top fitting.
