My 1980 25 swing keel, pop-top was dismasted in a storm here in Sarasota, FL. The storm also carried away the mast, all rigging, the rudder, and destroyed the stern pulpet and several of the stanchons. I keep my boat on a mooring at the Sarasota Sailing Squadron. I am in the process of completely redoing her and I need the following items (I am open to suggestions as to where to acquire these parts at the best prices or to buy the parts or receive donated parts from a sympathetic soul who has any of these parts): • Standard Mast & Accesories, winch, etc... • Rudder & Tiller or just rudder, tillers are easy to come by • Keel winch-the actual mechanism & handle.
I plan on buying the shrouds and stays and hardware from Catalina.
Feel Free to email me or call me, Glenn Eichenauer at 941-927-4711 with any information.
This soon after the recent hurricanes, you might want to check with insurance compalies to see if they've 'totaled out' a C-25 with some or all of those parts still usable. Also ask them who gets what's left of their totaled boats after they pay the claims. Maybe you can catch up with one that's being parted out.
The rudder & tiller can be built at home. The winch is sort of a consumable component, so you might want to get a new one. I'd say finding a good used mast extrusion should be your first priority.
I've gotten used C-25 parts from David Luckenbach in the past. He's a straight up guy to do business with.
If you have to go to "new", I recommend that you check out IdaSailor rudders and tillers. Lifetime warranty. So far, I like mine a lot and it's cheaper and more available than the ones from Catalina or CD.
Come to think of it, I have an extra standard rudder (one I bought from a buddy after my old original one snapped in half). I had to do a lot of work to it. I paid $190 this summer. I could let it go for $100, I suppose, but shipping from Washington State to Florida would possibly be spendy (I can't pay that for the $100 price). I have a crappy old, delaminated tiller around here somewhere. If you want me to throw it in, I could, but it would need to be reglued or re-epoxied and then refinished. I can't be much more help than that, I am afraid.....
Phone 360 687 2048 if you want to talk about it....or email works, too...
