I had the motor off for hurrican prep and in the process decided to change the bolts on the motor mount. I could reach the lowers, and backed with 6 inch diameter starboard "washers" on the inside, however, could not reach the uppers. My guess is that I can add a port, similar to the one for the uppers that I added for my rudder? Should it be above the shelf in the quarter birth, and, are there any significant items to beware of? Looks straightforward to me, but thought I would ask. Dan 86 FK, TR

Are you talking port or starboard side? If on the port side, a port through the gas locker is a welcome addition. If you are takling starboard side, It should be open.
I relocated my mount to the starboard side and put all the bolts above the shelf.

My motor is on the starboard side. I could reach the lowere through the small hatch at the end of the quarter berth, but the uppers are between the liner and transom. Can't even get an open end wrench to the nut. Will try the port above the shelf next weekend to get to them.

Dan, On my boat. The liner presses right up against the hull above the shelf. Good luck as this is a real tight place to work.

That is strange, I have mounted both the Garhauer and the Garelick and both bolted up with all four bolts in plain sight above the quarter berth shelf. I would get those top bolts out, fill the holes and use a pattern that fits where it is easy to work.
