Just a couple of pictures showing what Wilma did in our neck of the woods.

Our marina is full exposed (not even a breakwall on the east side of the marina) to anything out of the north...winds (directly out of the north and well over 50 kts.) and waves, along with extreme tides, finally took their toll as you can see two boats at the end of our dock caught the worst. Shortly after taking the pictures, that sailboats whole starboard side was ripped out and it was demasted. Snapped spreaders, broken lines, finger docks pulled apart were the order of the day.

Seeing what havoc it could create for us, I can't imagine the destruction that probably took place at ground zero. Tampa Bay is approx. 2-3 hour drive north from where Wilma made landfall.

I am having a hard time seeing that sunk boat as a bad thing. I think it is probably grateful. Someone should have put a round in it and anything else with a bottom that looks like that a long time ago.

Frank,
You are so right...I've never seen anyone pay attention to that boat except for the boatyard personnel adding lines for the storms. It's very sad thing to see a boat neglected like that.

Suzie,
Both boats actually had, at one time, double lines fore and aft...the constant wind and wave force pushed pilings over and ultimately snapped the lines. The lines in the picture are pretty much after the main part of the storm rolled through. The lines you see were added by other boaters trying to prevent further damage to the slips.
