It was a sad day yesterday. The wife and I, as well as about 20 other boat owners, hauled our boat out for the season. There is something very sad about an empty marina. Oh well. It just makes us look forward to spring that much more.

The good news is that we got the boat on the trailer properly the first time. A bunch of club members helped at the ramp, which made for an easier time. I had also installed "goal posts" on the end of my trailer so it was very easy to judge when the boat was centered properly.

Last year was very difficult without the goal posts, and with the 15 knot wind on the beam. We had to re-float the boat no less than five times last year, so I was very pleased with how things went yesterday, yet am still a bit sad.

I participated for the first time in a fin keel retrieval, with the use of a strap. While it was simple enough, I am glad I don't have to do that.

Anyway, for you folks who are fortunate enough to be able to sail year round, please don't be shy with sharing your sailind adventures this fall and winter. I'll be sailing vicariously through you.

It's a "private" marina, meaning it's open to the public but the rent (minus 10% for the State) goes to our private Sailing club. We have it budgeted so we "should" be okay. We have programs and functions that raise money, but not much.
