Hi Chris:

Boat looks nice. Shouldn't have any trouble selling it. Couple of questions:

1. What color is the hull? Original color?
2. What kind of stove is on the boat? Does it slide out or did you just lay some wood over the top for additional counter space?
3. Where did you get the "pockets" hanging on the starboard side next to companion way? I've been trying to think of something I could put flares, flashlights, etc. in so they would be easily accessible. What you have appears to fit the bill.

Thanks and good luck.

Will

Hi CCH,

Is the trailer "road" capable or just a "yard" trailer?

Is there no autohelm?

Who installed the new keel?

By the way, She's a beauty.

Thanks,

Paul

Hi Will,

Thanks for your comments.
The Hull is black and was painted by the previous owner. The paint is Interlux (maybe Intervane? by Interlux) was professionally applied and has been fantastic!
The stove is a 2 burner alcohol stove. The wood top sits on top of the stove to, as you suggested add counterspace.
My wife used canvas to sew the pockets on the bulkhead beside the companionway. We took them off once during deep cleaning and forgot to put them back up. A few months later they were replaced and we wondered how we got by without them. First we tried velcro but ended by screwing them on. I would suggest using darker fabric. (my hands are not always clean when I reach for eyeglasses or flashlights)

Paul,

Thank you as well for your comments and questions.
The trailer is a very well built, heavy duty 2 axle with roller bunks.
We moved from Colorado to Florida and pulled the boat here ourselves. We were outrunning snowstorms so the trailer and boat did well at speeds of up to 70 mph.
We never installed autohelm, was on the to do list, but you know how that goes.
The keel was installed by Miller Marine, which is close by in Southport FL. They removed the old keel. Glassed the interioir of the keel trunk, set the keel, and glassed the seam between the keel and the hull. I faired the seam, applied the barrier coat and bottom paint. A lot of work but well worth it. We feel we ended up with a more stable boat, less maintenance, and a dry bilge.

Good luck to both of you.

I am interested in the trailer. Have you modified it to fit the wing? What is the weight rating? What size tires? What type of brakes and number of braking axles?

Thanks
Rollo

Rollo,

Thanks for your interest. I would only be interested in selling the trailer by itself once the boat is sold and the buyer did not have interest in the trailer. Currently there is an interested party for the trailer without the boat. All that said, I will go by the trailer (it is stored away from home)and jot down the answers to your questions and get them posted.

Beautiful boat!

I'm new to Catalina 25's, haven't yet purchased one and considering it. I remember seeing somewhere on this board that the engine mount was normally on the starboard side of the stern and your's is pictured on port. Was that a factory installation?

Steve,

Yes as all of us on this forum can attest, the Catalina 25 is a great boat. We have loved ours for over 10 years. As work has finally allowed considerably more time for boating we decided on a larger boat.

To answer your question, in 1980 Catalina put the motor mount on the port side. Other members of the forum could probably tell you but Catalina switched to the starboard side in 1982 or 1983? At any rate this motor mount was upgraded by the previous owner but it is in the original place as planned by Catalina in 1980.

I noticed you are in Pensacola. If your travels bring you to Panama City come by for a sail to try our 25.

Bert,

Thank you for your question. We purchased a 2000 Beneteau 311. I have been promising to post pictures which I finally have. I will do it today.
