I'm about to get started prepping my bottom for a Baltoplate finish. I searched threads for Baltoplate and found a discussion about scraping, sanding, using Peel-Away, and using a pressure washer. I'm not the kind of guy that exerts any more energy then necessary so the Peel-Away and the pressure washer both looked appealing.

Does anyone have any experience and advice for me?

Can a 1750 psi, unk gpm pressure washer damage the gelcoat?

Should I pressure wash then Peel-Away then sand?

Does Interlux 299 work better than Peel-Away or is there another stripper that is easier and more effective?

Any further suggestions?

I'd avoid using it with the nozzle in the 'pinpoint' setting... put a little 'fan' in the spray pattern.

"Should I pressure wash then Peel-Away then sand?"

All sorts of approaches to doing this... I'd try a small patch with your proposed approach and see what you're getting into. Also, what's your climate like right now. Some of the chemical strippers don't work well at lower temperatures.

Hmmm... using Baltoplate? That's pretty hard-core stuff. I take it you're going to be (seriously) racing this boat?

Todays forecast:

Highs 80 degrees

Winds SSE 6 knots

Precipitation 0%

Max humidity 18%

But really, we keep the workshop here around 75 degrees.

I'm not a serious racer, I like to have fun whilst winning

You keep the workshop at 75. You mean you can fit your boat in your workshop. Damn could I have your shop.
