Hello All,
I purchased a Blue Sea Panel for my C25. I am thinking about locating it where the drawer is under the stove. I have the drawer frame, but no drawer.
I am thinking about recessing it about 1" and putting a cover over it like a hinged glass cabinet door, except it will be Lexan. It will not fit where the existing panel is located. I have a 16 gallon fuel tank in the Port locker and I want to get the electrics out of there as well.
Any thoughts?
Dan

Have there ever been any accidents due to the placement of the electronics panel in the fuel locker? I don’t know about everybody else but it bugs me. I also have a Blue Sea panel that I plan to install this winter. My plan so far is to build an enclosure just to the left of the companion way (looking aft).

Dennis,

I really like that electrical panel installation in NOTYET! too. The only thing I'd be tempted to change, and this is really a minor nit-picking thing, is to do something to reduce the chances of someone sitting near the panel bumping the switch handles with the back of their head. To solve a similar potential problem with my relocated electrical panel, I attached the actual panel to the back of the surrounding wood (just as shown), and attached a thin sheet of clear acrylic (a.k.a. Plexiglass) to the front of the wood. I cut finger holes in the clear cover where needed to provide access to the switches, etc. I'm pleased with the results.

I too am trying to contact the creator and installer of this panel. I had an email exchange with Dan earlier about this panel shown on "Not Yet". If anyone knows the current email address of this person please post it. The link on the Tech Tips site for this particular tech tip does not work. I'm assuming it's an old email address.

I don’t know of any. The original 5 panel switch, which I am hoping to replace this spring with a blue sea 8068 panel was in the bulkhead above the sink – the same locker that holds the fuel tank. There is cowling ventiliation in there as well as through holes for the gas line and electric start cords that allow it to breath pretty well. When it comes to actually starting the motor, in order to pump the ball in the fuel line we have to open the locker. I have both my AC panel and currently 2 DC panels on that bulkhead.

I intend to install the backside boxes made by blue sea sometime this spring too.
