Frank,
I noticed you installed your GPS reciever on the inside bulkhead wall. All of the information Humminbird providers show a horizontal installation and an unobstructed view. Your installation (inside and facing forward and down) obviously works so it is beyond me to question it but I am curious if you ever have a hard time establishing satellite communication with your setup. I would much prefer your installation than their recommendation. I guess the lesson is, "Don't take everything you read as gospel!"

Occationally it will take up to 3 minutes to lock on , but that is not unusual for handhelds as well. I figured I would try it inside laying next to the sink for a few days to see how it went. It went fine so I screwed it down as high to act like a fairlead for the lines. Can you tell I used Harken eye straps for the wire run? They are cheap and Nautical.

Pretty clever. I'll have to do some experimentation on my own.
