Spent a beautiful Southwest Florida day bobbing in the dinghy doing the Poli-Glow thing on the Barbara J's hull. Beeee-u-tee-ful. It just doesn't get any better than this...except for actually sailing her, of course.
Happy New Year to all the 25-250-Capri 25 folks out there. May 2006 bring fair winds and safe voyages.
I went sailing in the ocean today on behalf of all you hauled out and snowed in Catalina owners. There was a gentle one foot swell, a light southeast seabreeze, clear skies, 4-1/2 to 5 knots on the wind with a 150% up. But it wasn't all sunscreen, shades, and stretching out on cushions in the cockpit while the autopilot steered -- after sundown it got so cold I put on a windbreaker over my T-shirt.
The weather here in Atlanta was nice today as well. It got up in the mid 60's, the wind was light 6-8mph out of the ESE. I went out on the lake for a short sail, there looked to be some kind of club poker run happening with about 30 boats involved. Spotted another 250 cruising around, as I got a little closer I saw it was "On Eagle's Wing" (AKA-"Sailorman"(Ed) from this forum)whom I've never met in person. After a couple hours of great sailing I headed in. I ran into Ed and his lovely wife Connie again at the dock. This time we had some time to talk. Its neat how this forum brings people together.
Checking in from Minnesota....where it is 32F.....the lake is frozen solid (will be until mid April)........I'm done with shovelling snow.......and I'm itching to get back on the water! Just saying........
As already mentioned by Tom Potter, "Knotty Cat", sailing in Atlanta was good today. Maybe a little cool by Georgia standards, but then we used to live in Cleveland,Oh. You know; the mistake by----: never mind that. It sure beats 30 degrees and snow. It was a pleasure to meet Tom and get a look at his boat as he graciously invited my wife and I aboard. Tom has done one heck of a nice job with projects on "Knotty Cat". Now I have a longer list of my own projects but I sure am glad I have people like Tom and the rest of this forum to ask questions of. It makes sailing a lot more fun, as does meeting others from this forum. A good day all around.
