More Sailboats brands than usual - still not a huge sailing presence. Darn squirrel is still waterskiing. Many vendors I would have liked to see were not present. Interlux, West System, new technologies etc - not there.
If its more than a Day Drive for you, It isn't worth it.

I went to the show last Sunday and I agree most boats on display to big for my budget. I did find a Honda dealer that said they could get parts for my outboard after being told by MARINE CITY that it was to old. I will have to go to Menter but they sound like they know what they they are doing.
The Providence Boat Show was this past weekend, and I had a nice time walking on the different high-end sailboats and explaining to my brother the different features and equipment of each boat. Even signed him up for sailing lessons when the weather gets warmer. Still, however, not a huge sailboat presence. None of the vendors I wanted to see were there, either. I am in the market for a traialer and not a single trailer supplier was to be found, and gthere were no vendors selling books or hull repair kits or things for the do-it-yourselfer.
The main difference is that in Rhode Island, if you own a power boat, you are more than likely mentally deficient. In Cleveland, if you own a powerboat you are in the majority. Therefore, the rinky dink bass boats and the large smelly formula boats are almost redundant. (incidently my two year old daughter can now say power boats are smelly....)
My girlfriend and I went to the Toronto Boat show this past weekend. Same thing as duane said not to much inthe way of sailing. but they did have a raised platform for all of the sailboats so you only took your shoes off once. I also did get to look at the catalina MKII 34 and 36. Very nice but I will have to wait a year or so I guess. Also the tickets were free the Marina that does my work and where I am on hard for the winter comped me free tickets. Also not a bad time to spend a weekend in Toronto.
There was definately a lack of vendors for sailing there also. last year i did nto like the Miami Sail show because the Boats were lacking unless you liked Multi Hull. plus the vendors wanted nothing to do with a guy from Buffalo.
But there were a lot of vendors and I got a tom of info. So it pays to go if you have the time.
I would have liked to see vendors like Interlux, West System, Sampson and New England Rope, Safety products companies, and other marine doodad companies in Cleveland...Of course they weren't there.
