Any one got one of these, any experiences? Pluses or minuses of particular brands?

Thanks.

Rick

Don't do it!! You'll have to install a seriously drag inducing transducer - bad news for swimmer, especially in light air!

Seriously? You think it'll have that much of an effect?

Yep! Plus, they're wicked power hungry. That may not be an issue in your current slip but when you get here, it could be an issue on the mooring. :P

Thanks Justin, Good things to know. As it is now I only have to recharge the battery once for the season. Don't want to loose that convenience or slow Swimmer, especially with the efforts to trim her body fat.

Now, answer your email about GMORA please? The forum is pretty skippy with etails of the meeting. All I've gotten so far is that C Koch got bought a lot of drinks.

I have a simple Huminbird ff with the puck glued in the bow as it begins to rise giving the view about a 30 degree angle forward. I use it when docking, anchoring or negotiating a passage that I'm unfamiliar with. The reading needs to be re-estimated because the angle gives somewhat a wider number than might actually be there. It records sudden changes in depth and defines in a broad way any rocks and obstacles. When in deep water the device is turned off and the Signet multi sensor is left on. That gives me speed, log, depth and temparature. It's a nice addition, and draws very little juice.

Thank you John, but Capri's have cored hulls, can't use the pucks. Found that out the hard way with a depth sounder.

sorry I wasn't aware of that. would it be possible to take out a layer in a small puck sized circle, remove the core and then re-glass after the puck is in place?

of course for years I used a kid on the bow for forward rock views.
