I'm trying to find material to sew new velvet upholstery for the three pieces of my forward berth. Anyone tackled this one or know of a source? Frustrated in the Snow Belt Ron
Any good furniture upholsterer will have access to anything that you might want. All of my cabin cushions plus some new ones are being done now. I changed from the stock velvety stuff to SunBrella. It is a very durable fabric that comes in an amazing array of designs. It makes the interior much more "dirty sailor" friendly.
When we redid our interior we bought our fabric from a local upholstry supply shop. We picked the fabrics from a book of samples and then ordered as much as we needed plus a little extra. We were able to get just what we wanted. In the v berth and quarter berth we used a materials with a velvet type finish. It is holding up well and cleans easily. At the dinette we used a fake leather that keeps drips out of the cushions. On the bottom of all we used a mesh fabric to allow the cushions to drain and dry if they do get wet.
