I took all the cushions out of wind dancer and noticed for the first time the little storage area in the v-berth - way up forward. I even found some treasures in there from some PO :)
I was wondering... what do you guys do with it? It is so small and out of the way.
PS - Not related but when I took out the gimballed stove I found the **original** dealer prep sheet for wind dancer.. not very useful but very cool, especially considering the boat is 22 years old!!

I used to keep my 100 foot emergency tow line in there. Now that the V berth is jammed full of 6 sail bags, that's not a very good place for something you might need in a hurry. I don't use it any more.
When we go cruising, the V berth gets emptied and a curtain is hung over the entrance. It then becomes the domain of Heidi, my youngest teenage daughter. Its her storage space then.
Amy gets the quarter berth.
Karen and Jim get the queen sized bed in the salon.
The Catalina 25 foc'sle is really just access to the bow eye bolts if you have one. If you want a treasure trove of unused space pull the cover in the back of the quarterberth. Yes there are you lower gudgeon nuts but stick your head in there and really look around, it is cavernous.
I don't put anything big in there, because I'd hate to be on a big heel, having something shift in there and somehow knock a thru-hull out. I've had nightmares about that. Really.
I keep my fishing rod in there sometimes, my little tackle box, and a couple of small fenders but that's about it. It does seem underutilized storage space to me, but with the thru-hulls up there it just makes me nervous.
I stowe my vinyl pop-top enclosure in that v-berth area seems to be the right space for that, if you have one. I will have to try the "rum" thing, but mine would have to be full of Crown Royal.
Are some people talking about the space under the Vberth and some talking about the space in the bow? I thought we were talking about the bow space. Larry, you will find the panel when you change your worn out gudgeons. Here you see it in the back.
After re-reading the question, Frank, I may have been talking about the wrong area. As far as the little bit of space at the very front of the boat, I keep nothing but a little dust in there.
Heres a thought, acquire a hotel type ice bucket and one could store pre-made bottles of cocktails or a wine bottle there-white not red! I WILL try that this summer! What great thoughts flow through this Forum! :)
