I have a 1989 with the same windows on Frank Hopper's boat (Lewmar). The acrylic is all crazed and appears to be deteriorating. Does Lewmar still have a replacement part (and do you know the #) or does the entire window + frame have to be replaced?
Dan, I have an '89 and the same problem with my windows. I was never able to find a factory replacement. I did find a local plastic shop and had the guy cut and drill a set of new ones for me for about $20 each. The only problem is they are not tinted so I'm going to add some automotive tinting to the inside. We'll see how they work out once we get out of the deep freeze here in central NY.
You can get tinted windows made from Polycarbonate (Lexan). This is probably a better material for boat windows than clear Acrylic. My understanding is that Acrylic has slightly more UV resistance than Polycarbonate, but is much more brittle and liable to shattering from an impact. Polycarbonate has much more resistance to impact loads than Acrylic.
