As promised, a picture of my double softlink. I drilled a hole on each side of the motor (Nissan 9.8 just below and aft of the cover) to accept a bungee hook. I drilled a hole through the top of the rudder and tried different lengths of bungee until the pressure was synchronized to draw the motor in each direction. Simply tie a knot on the bungee after slipping through the rudder. Now in my third year of flawless operation. When raising the motor, simply unhook the rudder-side bungee and raise.
The mast crutch is in place for pics of the pintel mod on the "mast raising on the water" subject.
With all due respect for Arlyn's soft link mod, I have the identical 9.8 and it moves just enough to facilitate close quarters maneuvering in and out of my slip. Different strokes for different sailor folks!
