Is the hook-up at Dockton on the weekend of June 1-2 still on? I need to plan getting thru the Narrows on Friday with the tide if it is. What say you? Steve K.
Im game. I would love to meet more C-25 owners in my area. Ill be there. If anyone needs to contact me look at my profile. Dockton is very close to use as we have a slip in the Foss waterway (Tacoma). Just one word of caution entering the south end of Quartermaster stay to the west side. There is a rather large sand bar on the east side marked with a large orange bouy. In addition stay well west of Pt. Defiance. There are shallow shelfs, back edies, and currents around the point. Going through the narrows on the west side is the only way to go. See you there.
Would love to crew for someone who is going to this rendezvous. My boat is in Ventura, CA and I'm at my summer place in Langley on Whidbey island. If anyone has room please email me at <andrdv@ cs.com> I got my boat in January and would really like to see how other owners manage their boats. Dave Andersen (360-221-6118)
Come on all of you. 30 some odd people have read this post. Our regeion doesn't have a lot of get togethers or races. Don't you think it might be time to have some fun and meet other members. We could have an race or just BBQ. Im going even if Ill be there alone.
Douglas: Is this Dockton place on Vashon Island, then? In Quartermaster harbor? The only time I was anywhere near there was on the Odyssey cruise that you arranged last fall. I do not know if my boat will be ready by then; it's in the water now in the Columbia River, while my "project" boat sits on the trailer. I am trying to get the bottom done on it and the newly varnished teak reinstalled, etc. Just in case, where do you suggest I could have the boat lifted off the trailer? I don't ramp launch in salt. How far of a run from Oly? It sounds like fun, and I'd like to do it, but I just can't commit for sure; too many irons.....ya know? Gary on Encore! #685 (and Suede Shoes #496)
We can't make it that weekend <img src=icon_smile_sad.gif border=0 align=middle>. Too bad, I was looking forward to meeting people. It's our son's birthday (he's going to be two) and we're going to ride the steam train at Elbe near Mt. Rainier that Saturday. He's crazy about trains (sailboats too). Maybe we'll see you another time this summer. Have fun!
Gary B there is a travel lift at what use to be Totem marina on Dock street in Tacoma. Its now called Foss marina. Call ahead for rates. Trailer launch at Pt. Defiance next to the Vashon ferry dock. Take Interstate 5 to interstate 16 west. Go west to 6th st off ramp turn left at the bottom of the off ramp using the r/h most lane. Going back under the freeway and take a quick right on 6th. Follow it all the way to the bottom about 4 miles you will see the water. Stay in the R/H lane to the right of the Pt Defiance park entrance but once across move left so your not in the ferry line. Ramp is at the bottom on the right. The entrance to Ouartermaster harbor is at the south end of Vashon island. Stay to the west entering or in the middle is ok to. Its very wide and deep. Go all the way north into the harbor and it will dog leg to the right. Dockton State park is east in the corner of the dog leg. You will see mored boats to stbd as you head east stay clear of the shore to stbd due to pillings. Lots of room though. You will see the park in the corner. Large outside dock for side tie or enter the inner slips from the North or to port as you near. Entrance is on the back side or near shore and shallow at low tide but not a peoblem for Catalinas. Showers / restrooms / picknic shlter with BBQs / lawn area and nice walks. Use to be a small store within walking distance. Dockton has a lot of history. It use to be a large boat yard for repair and overhaul of square riggers untill the railroad made shipping a thing of the past. All that is left now are old pllings. You can drive there by crossing on the ferry. Vashon is a nice day drive and you can visit the light house on the east side of the island. Several country stores with good ice cream. See you there.
Looks like the three of us so far. Sounds good to me. Ill see if the wife will part with some of the wine we picked up in the San Juans last summer. Whats it going to be pot luck ? How many in each of your crews ? Bring cameras and pictures of last trip etc. See you there.
