Anyone familiar with the Garmin GPS II Plus? Thinking about getting one but want to see if anyone else has one or has comments about the unit.

Thanks,

I would spend the extra money and get the GPS III its worth it for the downloadable mapsorce CD’s. The 76S is very cool as it takes the "blue chart" charts and has a compass, but is more money. The best deals I’ve found are at www.thegpsstore.com this is were I got my last one.

Hi Shelby,

I've had a GPS II+ for four and a half years and like it allot. It doesn't have the mapping features of newer units. But has been very serviceable.

If you're buying one, the price should be pretty reasonable as the II+ has pretty much been overtaken by newer technologies.

BTW Here is a site for a photo of the GPS holder that I made for Snickerdoodle several years ago. It shows a GPS 12 (now replaced by the II+). Easy to read the GPS info and out of the way too.
