Looking around this site, it seems pretty clear that quite a few have painted the interiors of their boats. I am planning on that this spring and solicit, nay, welcome, comments regarding the process and types of paint. Hate to pay for Interlux, but if it has to be? When I used to live in New Orleans we got a polyurethane paint at Schwegmann's that was about as good as any and cheap. Haven't found a local alternative. Wonder about latex house paint for the interior. Any info will be greatly appreciated. Got fans, got mask. Not sure about strength and will.
I would only over gelcoat as a last resort. Paint is no where near as durable as gelcoat. You'll be chasing scratches for as long as you own the boat. Polish and/or wax what's there now.
Whatever paint you use (if any) be sure to provide PLENTY of ventilation... I got a serious case of dizziness when painting my 'storage' areas. (under the seats etc) with epoxy paint.
Head down in the bilges, it quietly snuck up on me. When I stood up, I wondered for a moment if I was gonna make it out of the companionway or not.
