I was in Saint Louis this weekend and I went to the Saint Louis Sailing Center. It is a very nice facility with a wonderful inventory of boats and nautical "stuff". I bought a Hobie Mirage Outback SUV, it has a 400lb capacity. For someone like me it is pretty ambitious physically, I am going to give it a shot.
Cool! I'm VERY interested in how it works out; the idea of a pedal kayak is appealing to those who cannot paddle for physical reasons, and if you could pedal and paddle both, well ... will it plane?
I saw the family of these new Hobie's at a recent boat show in Washington, DC. Very interesting. bet these will become very popular for Hobie as we all know them for the catamarans. But these pedal type kayaks and sailboat variations will bring a whole new activity out there on the water. have not seen one in the water as of yet, but then again I have been away form the water scene having gotten back into boating just this past fall.
Interested to read your assessment as you try it out.
Yes, I got the sail kit, mine is silver and yellow. They are all silver and something with the large window, it bungies to starboard just like the paddle bungies to port. There are a lot of movies on the Hobie site. They give you a drybag to put i the "tackle" box, it's the four built in rod holders that have me stumped; maybe I will put Hobie bobs on short rods in each of them, like training wheels. The white foot ball on top of this mast is called a bob.
