I would like to either add carpeting or wood flooring in my 82 C-25. I would prefer wood. It is a traditional layout interior
and I think a wood floor would look awesome but I do not know how to go about this, or if it is a good idea at all. Has anyone put in a wood floor or carpet? If so, any pics? This would be one of my final interior projects and I think one of the most rewarding, once finshed, that I could do.

I KNOW, FRANK, THE TABLE IS UPSIDE DOWN. I HAVE SINCE FIXED THIS AFTER YOUR ENLIGHTENING OBSERVATION.

Puravida,
Zach

Check this out http://www.worldpanel.com/lth.htm

I have bought a 6x8 piece for the Capri 25, its some really thick vinyl flooring, I glued this to a piece of plastic laminate so there would be no problem with water rotting the wood over time, Its a little cheaper than the 4x8 plywood piece of teak and holly you would have to buy, and it ships normal mail instead of freight saving about $165.00. It has to be one of the best upgrades I have invested my money into and it saved me about 1/2 the weight. I still have another 1/2 that I can redo in years to come if this doesn't hold up, but I dont think that it will ever happen.

What timing, I put carpet down today. Our Home Depot has marine grade carpet in 8x6 rolls on sale for $15. I picked up a roll of navy blue yesterday, made a pattern, cut the carpet out this morning and installed it this afternoon.
I ended up taking paper, tape and a pair of scissors to the boat and made a pattern. Transferred the paper pattern to the carpet and cut it out with scissors. Simple, $15 bucks, couple hours. If I get tired of the color its cheap to change. I kept the pattern.

I have carpeting and was thinking about going to wood, but I like the idea of having something that I can replace for $20 every year if needed. If I had a bigger boat where the wood would be seen more better (?), I would go with the wood. I have the dinette and you just do not see that much floor. Cheers.

Do you guys have any photos of your interiors. I would love to see both applications that you both described. They both sound like awesome ideas.
Thanks guys for the response.

did you bind the edges of the carpet. If not do you need to, I am not sure if that kind of carpet will fray. I have some outdoor carpet in my workshop that has never frayed, is that the same stuff as the marine grade quality you hace described

I'm headed for the boat in the next hour. Gonna spend the night in a cove somewhere on the lake. I'll take the camera and get a picture or two.

Chris,
is this a vinyl product? What do you mean when you say you glued it to a piece of plastic laminate so it would not rot the wood.

Thanks bro
Zach

Zack, the carpet I got at Home Depot don't need a binding, has a rubber like backing yet cuts with a pair of sharp scissors.

Thanks for the info about Home Depot Tom. I looked a the marine carpet that Lowes has and it does not have a rubber back. I was concerned about it slipping around. I'm headed for HD tomorrow.

Another vote for carpet. Use the heavy duty indoor/outdoor stuff (not the nylon) that actually looks and feels like carpet. Cheap investment, easily installed and replaced.

That carpet at Home Depot was pre cut 6x8 and packaged, located in a display box at the back of an isle. Not in the carpet area go figure. Several colors, Navy, green, gray, brown, tan.

Yes I can get some photos of the project, It gonna be the first tech issue for the Mainsheet that i post, I don't want to let the cat out of the bag too soon. the material was alright cost wise, and I have enough to do another panel of it. Yes this stuff is like vinyl, but its really thick, and its not like what you would see in the Home Depot store, They use this to floor super ships and other big boats where wood would be a nightmare to keep. I glued it down to a piece of 1/4" plastic pvc board, I was going to use wood, but I didn't want it to rot over time. More to come........

I will get a pick of the material if you want, with it in the boat it looks just like wood, but there is no slipping on the floor, really is good stuff. I have to thank Rick for finding this for me....
