I recently acquired a 1998 Johnson 8 2 stroke. I have never worked on an outboard motor before. As part of my spring conditioning I figured I'd inspect and clean the air filter. Couldn't figure out how to get at it. Its not part of the normal maintenence in the owners manual, in fact, its not mentioned. Do I have an air cleaner?
Like Tom said... nope. The manufacturers don't expect outboards (or most other marine engines) to be running in dusty environments... although I suppose it could happen.
