The rubber insert that fits in the screw on cap fell out yesterday. I was wondering if there is any particular adhesive that you would recommend for gluing it back in place. I do need to clean off the old stuff whatever it is, but wanted to hear any recommendations on what to use once it is ready to be put back in.

Thanks

In my opinion 75% of the earth is water for a reason. That's why I sail.

I would try a little weatherstripping adhesive, you can pick it up at just about any auto parts store.

Are you referring to the gasket?

I think you could call it a gasket. It is the rubber insert that fits into the outlet cap that screws on when the outlet is not in use. I think tompotter has the right idea. I was just making sure there wasn't some special adhesive that was used for something like this. You know the kind ...it's 3 times more expensive than what you can find at the auto parts store because it has the word "marine" somewhere on the product.

Seriously, we are new to this and I just wanted to make sure I repaired it properly.

Duane,
I agree. I don't like being around electrical and water. Plus we are new to the sailboat experience and any help is appreciated.
