The summer issue has arrived. Lots of great ideas, not only fix up and/or repair, but how to use things that we need to fix and trouble shoot systems on our boats. Good article on multimeters in this issue. For those of us with 'older' boats, this is a fine magazine.

I really enjoyed working on my boat this spring and am very pleased with the results. Now that the boat is in the water for the summer, I'm thinking of buying a smaller project boat.
Is there any consensus on what is a good old boat to work on?
I'm thinking 22' or smaller, and would probably gravitate towards a C22 unless there was something better.

Get a board (ie sunfish) or a Hobie.
Not much work to get in shape and a blast to sail.
Unless you'd rather be working on them than sailing them.

Checkout Shell Boats or Chesapeake Light craft to start on building a small sailboat from a kit. Maybe make a sailing dinghy. They have classes - sort of a vacation for a week while working long hours on building your own kit at one of their locations. Then after one week, only have to sand , paint and assemble sail kit. otherwise, get a kit and work on it at home this summer and thru till winter....then get ready to launch next year.
