So Dennis That's it? Not Bad. Did I ever tell you about the time I,I,I, wait a minute I think I have the proper medication to salve Dennis' hurt. Lets start a post of our misfortunes.
If you like I'll start with the time my furler let go in 20 knots of wind and my brand new 150% genny was about to be shredded so I hastily went forward and bunched up the sail and tied it with the remains of the line that parted from the furler. Having done this I motored into the Patchogue River and headed into a dock to tie up and survey the damage and hopefully to devise a plan to get me to my home port. As I tried to loop a line around one of the dock's pilings I laid a hand on a hornet who wasted little time sharing his annoyance with the hand that disturbed its reverie. BURNED LIKE A SON OF A B$%@*. wasn't long before my hand started to swell and pulse almost in time with the waves beating against the dock. Didn't help much trying to work up a plan to get sailing again but in time( brews)it all came together and I made it to my home slip. But by this time the swelling had reached my elbow and so I stopped by the Brookhaven Hospital ER on my way home. Turns out the MD said I was having an allergic reaction to the hornet's venom and was lucky to have stopped by for treatment.
Not much Den but I'll not forget the incident for sure,

Check out Seatow if its available in your area - much better insurance. <hr height="1" noshade id="quote"></blockquote id="quote"></font id="quote"> Boat/Us with unlimited towing (only slightly more than the lower options) is, IMHO, a very good deal. Part of the problem is that people don't realize how expensive a tow actually is so they go for one of the less expensive packages at first. The, after their first breakdown, they recognize how good a deal unlimited towing is.

Which story should I post...getting hung up on the rocks in Buffalo, banging the dock hard in a rental at PutInBay, ripping the mast out of the deck while stepping it, running out of gas on the way to Kelley's Island, having the motor rip off a cheaply homemade motor block, sitting with 3 guys and a total of 8 collegiate degrees and not realizing that the speaker we had sitting in the companionway was causing our course to be 231 regardless of where we went, hoisting the spin upside down at the windward mark, racing an entire 3 legs in first only to realize that we didn't know the full course called...then realizing in similar circumstances we just followed the pack...oops....
I've helmed or crewed all of the above....beyond learning from the mistakes, you learn how to overcome them too. As was mentioned before, Mr. Murphy will always get his last word in; experience rarely helps to directly cure the ailment, experience does however speed up the diagnosis and determine the proper treatment.
Well, I want to thank you all for making me feel normal. It seems we all have our bad days. I am not detered. I should be able to take her out for her first sail this weekend and I am looking forward to it. I sent this story to a non sailing friend and he called very concerned that I was ok. I'm better than ok, I had an adventure. Thanks everyone.
