When I was at the boat show this winter, someone told me that there was a product that one could spray on dock lines, etc. and it would keep spiders from coming on the boat. We get spiders that would put the ones in that Harry Potter movie to shame.
I didn't write down the name of the product, and now I can't find it. Spider-B-Gone, or something like that maybe. Anybody know where I could get something like that?
Spider be gone works on the sticking points of the web and breaks those bonds. If you want something that does the same thing, just mix 1/2 clorox with 1/2 water in a spray bottle. Spray your transom and any lines and "poof" spidies can't stick.
A serious spider chemical that last 3 months is Cynoff. Powder mixes with water and is sprayed on transom and areas that spiders collect. Be advised that Cynoff is not fish friendly and should not be used in large quantities. I use it sparingly and it works very well. Spiders move on to my neighbors boat!
I always heard that it was good luck to have Spiders on the boat. I always welcome them on board to be able to keep the insects in check. We have a huge problem with Mud Daubers, and I now have some fabric softener sheets put in my cabin and the sail bags. Mosques are another problem, but I have some citronella candles in the cabin, it gets hot enough during the day to warm the wax just enough to keep them out.

Will Citronella work against Synogogues and Churches too!
