remember the plan for these sternrail mounted speakers?
They sounded like crap without the base-reflex effect of being surface mounted. So I went with these Jensens which come with awesome rail mounting hardware. They sound great.
Now I am a happy guy, (sometimes in very light air it is best to simply fly a drifter and nothing else).
Hi Frank, looks like you are ready to rock. The PO of my boat told me the stereo he installed was grap. After I took posession of the boat I noticed that he had not screwed the speakers to the bulkhead. They were just sitting loose. After I sealed and screwed them to the bulkhead they sounded great. Maybe you could do that with your old speakers and pump up the bass that way. Cheers.
This is my second Catalina 25, my 82 had flush mount speakers in the cockpit and they sounded really good, they were PolyPlanr Platinums. The seatback of an 89 is not flat it has two facets so flushmounts are out on this boat. There are so many subtle differences in the 89.
