Well here's a story about his trip to the Bahama's. This guy does a great job describing his adventures. (Start with the bottom "Cruzin the Bahama's in a 25.5" and work your way up, three parts)

1984 O'Day 28 (sold)
1979 SISU 22

Tom,
Have you seen his custom swim ladder/stern patform?
Here's the link to his winter project stern rehabilitation on 25.5
Click "Next Picture" there are about 20 pictures.

Yea, pretty neat! If you do a search of "25.5" there are several other links leading to mods and a tour of his boat. Interesting stuff!

Anyone wanting to cruise across the Gulfstream I would recommend that you go with a flotilla of two or more. Then if there are any issues you have a much better chance of arriving safely. Even if you split up after you get there. You should be able to raise someone on the VHF willing to stay close. When my brothers and I sailed Chick-a-pea over to the Bahamas it was nothing to it. But if something happened there were three others crossing with us. If I was to hit a derelict container and holed my hull I would hope someone was close by.
