Way in the back of my feeble mind is the thought that I may move back to Atlanta. Yes, I know, expensive, traffic, yadda yadda But it may be for family reasons.
What do slips generally cost, and how much of a waiting list/time do people generally encounter there? I used to windsurf out of Van Pugh park, what a great park.
Second, in mid July I'm coming down to visit, and spend some time with my Mom. I would like to find some nice waterfront restaurant to take her to. Any suggestions?
Frank, As you probably already know from my previous post that I'm in Aqualand my slip runs me $1465 per year that's with no power and no water, up from $1355 last year. I shopped around a little the first part of this year at other marinas and this was the cheapest I could find on my side of the lake. Other than them raising the rent this year Aqualand is a pretty neat place. There's no wait that I know of, plenty of open slips.
As for NICE waterside restaurant, I know of a few little spots but nothing nice on the water. Aqualand has a outside grill but July would be hot and buggy. However they just opened a new place close to the lake that is nice called the Third Coast Grille, I haven't been there yet because of the long lines.
Perhaps you might consider Lake Allatoona? Less boat traffic by a long shot. Not as good of a sailing lake (narrower) but at least you can go out on weekends without feeling like you're in the spin cycle of a washing machine.
We kept our boat at Park Marina in Red Top Mountain State Park. Reasonably priced and a beautiful setting. There were several waterfront restaurants on the lake at that time (we left in '02) but not sure about now.
