Hi all,

Earlier on I mentioned that Fiona, a forty two foot Westsail skippered by Eric Forsight, was looking to sign on shipmates for its next adventure. Well all that has taken place and the departure will be tomorrow at high tide(11:58 dst Patchogue). First stop the Canaries. Though I can't make the trip with him I'll at least accompany him to the Atlantic. Any area Catalinas care to join in call on channel 09 for updates.

Val,

They couldn't have a better escort. Have a good sail and fair winds to the Fiona!

Thanks for the kind words Ed. You had to see that boat going across the bay---it was like watching an island sailing by---rock solid---and with Calista motoring @ 6.4 knots it was out of site before you knew it.
First stop the Canaries--Via con dios FIONA

Val, I have a friend who is just now heading for the Azores from Africa. He is about 2 years into a circumnavigation starting from Half Moon Bay just south of San Francisco. Your friend might want to give a holler. His name is Joe Fontes on the Immigrante. If you would like I can get his ham sign.

WHOA * * * Fontes on the Immigrante (CHA CHA CHA)[:-)] Ed forgive my light headedness just got back from checking the crab traps on Calista and with three foot seas I'm exhausted. I'll send along your friends call sign to Fiona and his to you via the Fiona website. My Ham radio is not on station yet.
What a guy he is. This is his fourth circumnavigation. His energy is incredible. You may want to investigate his background on his website sounds like Walter Mitty.
