If you happen to have looked at the Swap Meet during the past two days, you might already know that I listed Passage Tuesday afternoon and sold her (because of the Swap Meet) this morning (less than 48 hours later)! During my conversation with the buyers, I played up the value of these forums--for good reason. I began lurking here at least a year before we bought Passage, and learned a tremendous amount about the C-25 before looking at the first one. This association was a major feature of the boat--no question goes unanswered and no problem can't be resolved.
As time went on, I tried to ease into the role of providing more answers than I had questions--based on what I've learned about the C-25 as well as my 50+ years of sailing on everything from a square-rigged rowboat to a Shark class catamaran and various sizes of cruisers and one-design racers.
Getting back to the transition of "Passage", Bill and Amy-Jean Van Arsdale, who are about to be her new owners, said they'd be sending in their $22 very soon, and I expect they'll be chiming in here as well. I have no doubt that the group will give them a fine welcome, and that they'll have a wonderful experience with their "new" C-25, in no small part because of this group. I'll probably answer some questions from them directly, but my knowledge has its limits, so Bill and Amy-Jean, jump right in--the water's great!
What's next for me? That's undecided... But for a combination of reasons, I'm probably headed over to the "dark side", although I expect I will also pick up a small sailboat to knock around on the broad, quiet river outside my condo, to maintain my love affair with the wind. If I do what I'm seriously thinking about right now, I'll post some pics of a semi-custom-built Downeast-style overnighter one of these days...
Meanwhile, I'll be lurking... This place is too much fun to walk away from, even if I won't have any more C-25 questions. Huge thanks to all who have provided great information and advice, inspiring stories, cool pictures, and just plain fun--especially when the snow is piled around the jack-stands! This is without a doubt the best sailing community on the Web.

Dave - Thanks for all the help. If I recall you are one of the guys from the old board as well. Many of those guys have come and gone - I look forward to hearing about your adventures in the new boat.
You might recall me threatening you regarding your elusiveness with the amount of advice you really gave. Every couple of hundred posts and you'd re-up under a new name. I said if I every had a chance I'd consolidate you.....well take a look at your posts now...

I'll shut up now! Did you mean "effusiveness"? If so, part of that was the cathartic effect of these forums when I was going through my loss... I probably got a little "chatty"--adding useless comments that cluttered up useful threads... Yes, I started lurking back in the Trailersailor forum days--a lot has improved since then! With people like you, the Franks, Derek, Bill, Leon, the Steves, Jim, Don, Arlyn, Bruce, Doug, Buzz, Larry, Bryan, Tom, Gary, Oscar, "Val on the hard, dagnabit!", and too many others to list, this is a great place to be!
Hats off, three cheers, and a "Skol!" to the people whose hard work over the years has enabled all of this!
Personally, that is one of the things I like about this forum, it seems to allow some personality. Sometimes that isn't good, but most times it's what makes it such an excellent collection of people.
Dave, I wish you well in your new adventures. Please look me up should you get up to Maine.

Thanks for making my snow days brighter. I really enjoy your notes and the help. I just met Bruce because of the Forum and hope I might met you and the others on your list. We do sail for a lot of people. May you always have steady winds and fair seas.
Thanks, Jim... That is a "sweet" pic in your signature.
One closing story that'll help you get to know the Van Arsdales, new owners of Passage... These folks have owned a many boats--the last being an Irwin 31, I believe. As we sat and chatted in the cockpit, Amy-Jean asked if the boat heels... I didn't know quite what to say--explained that it was fairly well ballasted, but had a somewhat narrow beam for its length, so yes, in a breeze it will heel a little... (trying to figure out where she's coming from!)
Bill interrupted and said, "You need to know that when my wife goes sailing, she wants to bury the rail! " She just smiled and nodded, saying, "I just don't want to buy a pig!" I told them about guys like Derek, Frank, Duane, and the other racers... A little later, I mentioned two clutches for reefing lines... Their reaction was sorta like, "We don't need no steenking reefing." Well, you get the idea!
Bill and Amy-Jean, may the green water stay outside of your coamings, but run all over your genoa track!
I saw your ad last week in the Swap meet and wasn't too surprised since you've been alluding to letting Passage go for some time now. With the work you've done to her, I'm sure the new owners will be very pleased, but if they happen to post any questions with a reference to the "DPO", we'll at least know who that is.
Unlike me , you've added greatly to the collective wisdom of this group and I hope you continue to do so.
Well, I guess they can call me anything they want... But I did install the water separator--voluntarily after they had bought the boat. She's not perfect, but she ain't bad for a 21-year-old.
Bill and Amy Van Arsdale are on their way home on Passage as I type this... We motor-sailed her half way yesterday. The check is headed for the bank (before he can stop it). End of chapter, start of new. I'll be around.
