The rubber bumpers for my ladder have disintegrated. They are the cushions between the ladder and the stern when it folds down. Are the stainless legs 1" in diameter? Anyone have an idea? I was hoping to buy some replacements before I go to the marina tomorrow.
Also I recently replaced my main and jib halyards. Is there any need to keep the old ones? They were probably original (17 years old) and showing signs of wear. I'm inclined to toss them but don't want to learn later that I should have kept them.
Obviously still learning from this site. Thanks for all your advice.
I'm 99 percent certain they are 1" on my 89. As to the halyards...I'm having a hard time tossing my old ones, although I don't know what to use them for.
If you're an accomplished marlinspike sailor, you can turn your old lines into fenders. Very nautical looking. I, regrettably, am not an accomplished marlinspike sailor. I'm working on it though!
You can also make a monkey fist on one end and use the old halyard or sheet as a heaving line. Also very nautical looking, and not very difficult to do. A golf ball makes a great weight for the middle of the monkey fist. I hang my heaving line from my stern pulpit right next to my jimbuoy, makes me feel salty.
Thanks for the ideas. Good suggestions all. I'm off to Walmart before heading to the marina. Bill we have sister ships, almost twins. If you have water leakage from the companionway boards let me know. I've got an easy fix.
Fenders and heaving line I could use to make me look more salty also, but baggies? The admiral thinks she has those in the kitchen cabinet.
Will, glad the foam worked for you. Send pictures when you can. I was late getting everything shipshape and missed some of the spring sailing season. New motor, motor mount haylards, hull paint and side glass, clean interior cabin walls, shellack teak outside, oil teak inside, cushions, Nicor 24/7 vent fan, repair running lights, etc.
However we're sailing now despite the heat and humidity and loving it. Just don't get to do that enough. Thank goodness for the bimani!

Do tell, there is a bit of a drip coming in with the April showers (even tho its May)
Another tip is I take a spray can of Sun Block and spray my bungee chords with it. They last much much longer and stay pliable too.
I am such a fountain of useless knowledge my family won't hardly play Trivial Pursuit with me. If they do, I have to fill two complete pies before I can win...
