I have a Nissan 8-hp 2-stroke with a new impeller. The "pisser" on the side has a healthy stream of water, but there doesn't seem to be much water coming out the back - and it's spraying out along with a small amount of exhaust. Anyone know if this is normal? The engine starts easily and seems to run just fine, but I'm having visions of a leaking head gasket.

Bubba,
I have the same model only the Tohatsu brand,(same motor) and mine does the same, always has even when I've changed impellers. Good stream out the tattle tail and not much out the exhaust. However she runs like a top. I ran her 3/4 throttle for about 10 hours straight in the ICW last fall with no problems. If she was gonna break it would have been then. I don't think you have anything to worry about.

Most of the extra water you don't see is sprayed around the exhaust tube inside the mid-section to keep it cool. What you see dripping out of the back is this water. Most will wind up going through the prop.

Tom.
