I have a thermoelectric cooler in my office (small, holds 9 small water bottles, I'll check the amp draw today.
If the unit used, say, around 4amps = 48watts then a solar panel could run it.
Less amps the better for those of us that go out for 2+ days.
(Looking forward to our next trip on Labor day weekend!)
I have been told that these new cooler refrig only keep the stuff inside cool around 20 degrees than the outside temp. So if its 90 outside then it will only cool to 70 deg. Most of these units are designed for in the car use, The cars a/c is running so it keeps the outside of the cooler at a lower temp. I myself have a cooler refrig, It was one of the first things I bought for our boat back 4 years ago. It is still sitting in the attic over the garage, and I have never used it. My brother also has one of these and used it on his speedboat pluged into the cig lighter, He was very disapointed with the results it put out.
I recently received a - and I'm reading the back of the fridge, JH Fridge, model JH-7F, AC 120V 60hz, DC 12V at 0.75 amps. I had it running for two days while on a short cruise. About 10 hours of its use was on shore power. This is a hot and cold frig which has a 9"x8"x8" deep storage area. It worked fine with no appreciable battery drain. I have a solar panel and a 6 amp alternator on my motor and used both on the trip. I'll see if I still have the box if you need more info.
